A New Year: 2011-2012

Hey guys! Wow, it's been one year already? Well, thanks for all the great ideas during the meeting yesterday. I think this year is going to be the best one yet! Anyway, here's the topics we covered:

1. New format
Show new anime every week chosen by members
Anime determined by weekly contest (either by firstclass or this website)
New activities every month/other week

2. Ideas for activities
Voice Acting
Drawing
Karaoke
Photoshop
Japanese
Dance
Weekly AMVs (characters)
Cosplay/skits
Videogames
Movies PREPS

*for this to really work, I think it'd be great if we could all volunteer to each lead one activity every month/other week. We'll talk more about it at our next meeting*

3. Things to Bring Up
Use of this website- do you guys like it or would you rather use firstclass for everything?
Club Fair- I will send an e-mail asking for volunteers who want to bring food or decorations.

Get excited!! \(^o^)/

Yay new animes!!!

First of all: Happy Easter to everybody!!!

Second of all: NEW ANIMES COMING OUT!!!!!!!! I'm not sure if many of you know (or if we've talked about it but I wasn't listening) But two of my favorite mangas/animes are coming!!!

As you all probably know, Axis Powers Hetalia is awesome and the third season is coming out with funimation (they recently got the rights for it)!!!!!!!!!!

And, I know you love this manga, Alison: Kaichou wa Maid-sama is now an anime (but I'm not sure if it's funimation or viz media or what company had the rights for it but I'm excited!!!!)

I got all (or most) of my info. from animefreak.tv which is an awesome website with manga, anime, and info/ updates that usually come earlier than onemanga (I'm not sure about mangafox or other websites but this is where I go in case you are wondering...)

(Really Late) Top 10!

Alriiight... Finally found the site :D so anywaysss... Top 10 ok heeere we go (btw, all mangas I still haven't had time to watch anime, except Witch Hunter Robin, also #1 is pretty set and definite but #2-10 are always changing and switching around so this is just right now) :)
1. Paradise Kiss - Amazing. I loved the art and the storyline was awesome. I've reread it so many times and I've seriously fallen in love with the characters (Yukari is kinda... irritating at times, but still, she's kinda like that super irritating older sister... not that I'd know as an only child. don't judge).
2. D. Gray-Man - Awesome story and really original concept. Also love the art (I'm pretty simple, all of these are going to sound similar. You've been warned)
3. Ouran High School Host Club - I'm pretty sure you all know this already so I'm not even going to bother (thanks for the spoilers) -_-
4. Claymore - Yay strong female characters! It's actiony and awesome but it's not all about the guys (very few strong male characters actually)
5. Trinity Blood - BEAUTIFUL art. I love the storyline and it's a cool look at vampires that's not so typical (thanks a lot Twilight...)
6. Full Metal Alchemist - Well I'm assuming most of you have read this so I don't really think I need to explain... for those of you that haven't, well, just read it
7. Death Note - Pretty much same as #6
8. Naruto - Again... #6
9. Bleach - Aaaand... again (I'm totally just lazy)
10. Skip Beat/Fruits Basket - This is a tie! I couldn't pick :) Fruits Basket is a really cute, happy (mostly) shojo series. It's a good way to introduce someone (probably a girl, not to be stereotypical or anything) to manga/anime. Skip Beat is just hilarious :)

Totally just realized how generic this is... wow I fail (but not really because these are bomb)

ANIME CLUB 8/10

Ok guys, so, here's what we talked about during the meeting today.
We're going to do sweatshirts, recycling the logo you see on the blog, and on one arm you can put a personalized iron-on patch to make it individualistic to you. Keep in mind, THIS WILL PROBABLY BE YOU'RE SWEATSHIRT FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS. So I hope you like what you're ironing on!

Next, we'll start watching Totoro next meeting, which will be provided by Crystal!!! Yaaaaayyyyy! And we'll make our way down the Miyazaki line al the way until PONYO!!!! YAAAAAYYY!!!

And finally, we have the first page of our manga! I really like the story idea, so I think we can all agree this will be our first mini-story about the character and the first page in the overall bigger story!

Story:

Yuuko sleeps in bed, drool running down her mouth and the light from the just risen sun filtering through her window blinds. Then, a huge dark shadow moves along her wall, getting closer and closer, until finally it looms over her sleeping figure, eyes shining in the darkness. Then there's a flash of teeth and....!

Her pet panda (name TBD) holds up, her head in his/her mouth as he/she affectionately mauls her. She slowly wakes up and looks in the direction of her huge panda, and then proceeds to smile, pet the panda's neck, and say good morning just as affectionately, thanking the panda for waking her up.

This is what we all agreed on, right?

I hope so!

So, we'll talk about layout and who'll draw in a few meetings. However, if you want to do a layout of the page yourself, (just stick figures and sketches), please do! And then we can tweak it, the story, dialogue, etc. ALSO, please, for those of you who like/can draw, come up with a character sheet for Yuuko and any other characters we've discussed. I believe there is also a boy (name TBD) and her twin sister Yuuka?

Ok guys, great! We're actually getting somewhere!
Awesome job everyone!

And I know I've said this a lot, but AMAZING job during the food fair1 You all were positively wonderful and deserve five billion cookies!

Now.

Go read Kaichou wa Maid-sama and Dengeki Daisy if you haven't already started.

And 1/2 Prince.

DDDDDOOOOO IIIIITTTTT!

Gang Flashback Chapter Script

Hi, everyone. I know I haven't really been that active in the club, but I mean to change that! So I wrote a script for another chapter for you guys!
The background for this chapter is sort of as thus: We already stated that she was in a gang, and this is the explanation for the who-what-where-when-why-how. Her twin sister (Who I called Yuuka but it doesn't have to stay that way) has been spreading rumors around the school that Yuuko used to be in a gang and is dangerous and a bad friend. One of the boys who is interested in her whose name we have yet to decide sits her down at lunch to talk to her about it.

[insert boy's name]: Wait? So you were a part of a gang?
Yuuko:-blushing- Not really.
[boy]: Come on! I thought I was supposed to be your friend!
Yuuko: Well...yes...
[boy]: Then tell me!
Yuuko: Fine, fine, but you have to promise not to laugh. So you know my twin sister? --picture of Yuuko standing next to twin sister, look exactly the same but Yuuko is wearing her old school uniform and nerdy glasses while sister is wearing a lot of makeup and looks even prettier than the 'pretty' version of Yuuko that she creates every morning in the bathroom. Story continues with Yuuko's narration in boxes while pictures show the flashback--
Narration: Back in my old school, I wasn't very popular at all. Actually, I had no real friends. My parents told me that it was because I never reached out, and I was too shy. They said I had to join a club. I had always loved cooking, and I had just joined the school pastry club. I worked very hard for the first meeting, baking oatmeal raison cookies, and brownie bars with cocoanuts and butterscotch and chocolate chips, and all sorts of cupcakes --shows picture of Yuuko baking-- On the way to the first meeting, I got lost.
[gang boy]: Hey, Yuuka! (twin sister's name)
Yuuko: (head whirls) Me?
[gang boy]: Why are you so late? And what's with the nerd outfit?
Yuuko: (stuttering, nervous)
[gang boy]: You got the stuff?
Yuuko: (babbling) Yes, I worked so hard all weekend to get it all done and--
[gang boy]: Well, bring it in, and then we'll let you join, like we said we would. (they go inside the old room, in the abandoned warehouse)
[gang leader]: Who is this?
[gang boy]: Yuuka
Yuuko: Um..it's pronounced Yuuko.
[gang leader]: (takes a closer look) That's her twin sister, you idiot! What are we going to do with her? Now that she knows our hideout's location?
Yuuko: Um, sorry to interrupt, but I have no idea where we are at all, I was lost, so it doesn't really matter--
[gang leader]: Shut up!
[gang boy]: (shoves her, and she drops bag of cookies. Three cookies fall out onto the floor) What are these? (takes a bite of one) 'ay, boosh, try'um (mouth is full)
[gang leader]: swallow, you idiot!
[gang boy]: --GULP- Boss, you've got to try these pastries, they're amazing!
[gang leader]: (tries one, similar look of amazement goes across his face.) Did you make these?
Yuuko:...Yes
[gang leader]: Could you make us more every week?
Yuuko: Sure! I love to cook and Mom says I really should make a lot of new friends so I would love to stay with you and bake cookies for you!
--FLASHBACK ENDS--
[boy]: Wait, so you joined a gang to bake cookies for them?
Yuuko: ...Yes?
[boy]: (puts his hands over his mouth to muffle his laughter) That....is....
Yuuko: Stupid. I know.
[boy]: I was going to say amazing. Amazing and hilarious! Like you. You're just so...unique. And amazing.
Yuuko: Not really. Yuuka is the same as me, but better in every way. I wish I were like her.
[boy]: Not everyone thinks so?
Yuuko: -laughs- Like who? Who would be that crazy?
[boy]: (to himself) I am. (outloud) Can Yuuka make cookies?
Yuuko: I don't know. She usually has better things to do than cook. Most of the time I do the cooking around my house.
[boy]: So...um...is there any chance...um...could-you-bake-me-some-cookies? (says it really fast)
Yuuko: -laughs- Sure! I love to bake!
(Yuuko walks off happily, see her in her uniform walking away, see boy's thoughts: Yuuko is so much kinder than her sister. She would never say 'no' to anyone. Maybe she can be a bit spazzy at times, but she's the only person I know who has so many talents but doesn't see them in herself. I think I love her...)

I know it's not much, and it's very rough, but if you guys like it we can use it. Thanks for reading!
